Your wedding is the most important day of your life and your images are the only memory you will have that will live on forever. The dress will go into the closet, the flowers will die, and you will slowly forget what your food and cake tasted like, but you will have photos of all these things to help you remember. While digital cameras are everywhere and many people call themselves “photographers”, you want to make sure you can trust the person you hire to not miss all those important details. This comes from experience and education. A professional photographer will have the experience to help you plan your timeline for the day and to know how long to expect for everything from getting ready, to the receiving line or dinner and speeches. Professionals know how to work with all lighting and weather conditions and will make your day go smoothly. While your friend or uncle may have a great camera and love to take photos, the biggest regret I hear from people is they “wished they had hired a professional photographer”.
I think it is very important to do your research. What type of wedding photography do you like? What type of editing do you want to have with your images? Shortlist 3-5 photographers you LOVE and meet with some of them. Make sure you can view their work and products (and even a whole wedding), talk to them about your wedding day and ask questions about their experience. You will spend more time with your photographer than any other vendor on the day, so you want to be sure that not only do you love their work and style, but also that you enjoy their personality. You have to be able to put your trust into this person to capture your day and give you images you will love years from now.
I have been shooting weddings since 2004 and to date have shot more than 250 weddings!
I generally book 25-30 weddings a year to ensure I can give my couples my full attention.
I would love to! My home studio in Whitby is where I meet with couples to go over their plans for the big day and also to share products and additional work with you. Use the contact page and we will arrange a day and time!
I have many couples book me after only talking through email. While I’d love to meet all my couples before, I understand that sometimes that just isn’t possible. If you decide that you would like to chat over the phone or via Skype about your wedding plans, I’d be happy to arrange a day/time with you.
If you decide to book with me, everything can be done digitally online without the need for paper or mailing.
I require a $1000* non-refundable retainer along with a signed contract to secure your date. The contract can be signed online digitally through our secure client management system.
*Subject to change at anytime.
We are happy to accept cash, cheque and email money transfer (EMT). Payment through credit card is not currently offered, but Paypal can be discussed if needed.
I shoot entirely in RAW. Unfortunately, RAW files are not for sale, as I want you to have beautiful finished images edited to my style.
Of course! All of my wedding packages come with your high resolution JPGs that you can print and share.
All of my wedding packages include a second photographer (*subject to change for future bookings). I try to work with a select few only, however, this depends on availability. I will always ensure I am working with another professional with a similar skill level.
I offer hourly coverage based on what your needs are. Most couples do not need a photographer at the salon in the early morning, nor do they need a photographer there until the party dies. The most common coverage is 8-10 hours. Minimum coverage is 6 hours for Friday-Sunday weddings from May-October. I would be happy to discuss in person or over the phone to figure out a rough timeline of the day to ensure we cover what is important to you.
You bet I do! I love to travel and thanks to this amazing job, I have been able to capture more than 25 destination weddings around the world. For more information, please visit the Destination Wedding FAQ page.
I am quite often shooting all over Ontario and love to visit and photograph new venues and locations. There are no travel fees for weddings within a 200km radius of Whitby*. If you are outside this area, I’d be happy to discuss the fees based on your specific venue.
*Certain restrictions may apply based on total distance or timing/coverage of the wedding day
Engagement sessions are fun! I do recommend that every couple should have one, mainly because it gets you used to being in front of the camera and it’s great preparation for the wedding day. Most couples have never had professional photos taken before, so having some fun, laid-back photos of you in non-wedding attire is wonderful to have. You can also use these photos for invitations, save-the-dates, or as a guestobook/print at your reception.
No matter the size of your wedding, the same amount of time, effort, creativity and talent goes into photographing and editing. I’d be happy to discuss your wedding plans and see what would best suit your wedding. Some discounts may be available based on the date of your wedding, or the location.
I do not offer discounts Fridays through Sunday weddings, due to popularity in past years. Weddings in my off season, from November – April and last minute bookings are also subject to discounted pricing.
I do offer a discounted pricing for weddings during these days of the week, as long as it does not fall on a holiday.
I try and get your images back to you as quickly as possible, however, the general timeline is 8-12 weeks.
Unfortunately, I do not work off shot lists. I will provide you with a list of suggested family members to photograph that you can adjust accordingly. This helps the family formals go quickly. I am always open to hearing about any special or different plans you have for the day that you definitely want to capture. As a professional, I always do my best to capture everything from details to candids and everything in between. While I love Pinterest and understand the amazing effect it has had on brides and grooms everywhere, it tends to really slow down the process of taking photos on the day.
Absolutely! Please check out this page to see some of my favourite people to work with! (coming soon)
If your wedding venue does not have a photo location option on-site, I’d be happy to help you find something!
Yes, you are. Please ensure you do this as soon as you decide on a photo location, as many book up quickly.
Every year I shoot at new locations and I love it! Being a professional photographer means that I can walk into a new venue on the day and easily work with it. Scouting is available for an extra fee if this would make you feel more comfortable. That being said, scouting a location doesn’t guarantee that the lighting/weather will be the same on your wedding day which could completely change how I work with a location anyways.
I recommend having at least 2 hours to capture all your main formals and creatives. This will allow us time to capture your important family photos, as well as images with your wedding party and of course, the newly married couple! The more time we have, the more variety we can capture.
I definitely do! Once you have booked with me, I will follow up with a guide of tips and tricks to help you make the wedding day perfect!
