And it was hot….so unbearably, sweating-while-standing-still hot. Anita had to go blow-dry her hair a few times if that’s any indication! I think the temperatures soared close to 40 degrees that day but it was worth it!

I was so happy when Chris emailed me to talk about their wedding, as I felt like I already knew so many of their friends and family and it would be an easy and laid back day, much like they are. Their wedding was held at the beautiful Parkwood Estate in Oshawa. If you don’t know already, this is where most of the movie, Billy Madison (with Adam Sandler) was filmed.  It was a very hot and sunny day in June, but it was nothing but perfect. Their emotional ceremony was heartfelt and full of love, and I’ll admit, I was crying too!

We found a fun beach house near the boardwalk which I fell in love with for the texture. Otherwise, we stuck to the beach to get some sexy photos in the water (and these two didn’t disappoint!), as well as some gorgeous sunset photos.  Chantelle and George didn’t need any direction and they bring such passion and chemistry to the images that all I had to do was stand back and take photos!

The Iberostar Laguna Azul is a new resort clustered among hundreds of others on the beach in Varadero. It’s amazing how many resorts they can cram into one area! The resort is quite nice with 8 pools, lots of bars and restaurants and over 800 rooms!  Since this is a family resort, it was a lot more busy and the pools were packed everyday. Definitely the opposite of Paradisus, but the perfect resort for this wedding group!

Chantelle and George brought down a HUGE group with them, with almost 70 people! However, that number is a testament to the kind of people Chantelle and George are, as they have the most loving family and friends who are true supporters of them as a couple. And boy, do they know how to party!

The week was calling for rain, so instead of the beach wedding they had planned, the ceremony was moved inside to the covered terrace on the top floor. It did end up raining for a bit during the ceremony, but cleared after so we could go take photos! We made great use of the resort for photos and had a lot of fun doing it.

As a quick note on Chantelle and George themselves - I just have to say how incredible you two are, individually and as a couple. The love you two have for each other is something I don’t see everyday and it’s truly wonderful. The way you look at each other, the way each of you steals a glance at the other, your smiles and laughter, and your passion.  It’s beautiful. You really are the perfect fit for each other and I wish you so much happiness in the years to come!

I can’t thank Chantelle and George enough for having us down there with them to celebrate their special day. I also want to thank all of your family and friends for making us feel like part of the group, which isn’t easy to do with so many people!

These two are so in love - you can just see it!

Nothing sweeter than Chantelle wiping away tears from George’s face. These two made me cry!

Almost the entire group…we had a few camera shy people.

I won’t even begin you tell you how many times we tried to get this shot right! It was hilarious to say the least!

I loved this wall in the spa on the top floor!

I love Casa Loma for all it has to offer couples on their wedding day. Everything from the indoor ceremony location, to the beautiful grounds and the elegant setting for a reception - it’s a true classic venue! And what bride doesn’t want to get married or have photos taken at a castle!?

Sarah opted to not use her wedding dress for the session, and instead brought along a cute white sundress! We used some areas around the resort and had a lot of fun. Sunset was beautiful and while we had to stand around and wait for that perfect moment, I think we got it!

Fast forward to April 2010 when I received an email from Andrew and Sarah. They were looking for a photographer to travel to Cuba for their wedding, as their original photographer was no longer able to go. The wedding just happened to fall the week before Chantelle and George’s. After going over some details, getting some travel quotes and making sure the schedule was clear, I was booked to fly down for two weeks to Cuba, at two very different resorts on different sides of the island!

For my first week, I brought down my boyfriend and fellow photographer Jon Rennie to second shoot with me. We met up with Andrew and Sarah on our second day there and discussed some wedding plans. Sarah and Andrew are from London, England and brought down a lovely group of 16 friends and family members for their beautiful two week vacation and wedding!

The wedding was held at the Paradisus Rio de Oro in Holguin, Cuba. It is a beautiful older  resort, quite out of the way of everything else.  The resort itself was beautiful with many opportunities for photos, and the staff, food and accommodations were better than I ever could have expected!  And I have NEVER seen a sky or ocean look so blue in my life! It was incredible!

Their private reception was held on a restaurant patio overlooking the ocean at sunset and it was stunning to say the least. Lobster was served and we all were able to watch Cuban dancers perform as well as a group of Cuban singers who were brilliant!

The ceremony in the garden was intimate and beautiful with late day light. Olga’s smile and laugh is infectious and you can tell how in love these two are. Looking forward to shooting at this location again sometime!
