I don’t know what it is about Deer Creek, but almost everytime I shoot there it’s a torrential downpour! This has happened at numerous weddings over the past few years with only one that had sunshine! Amanda and Blair’s wedding was no different. The morning started off beautiful and sunny for the girls getting ready. You will see below the amazing dress Amanda chose! I love it! The single strap was also removable so Amanda could get rid of it when she wanted to go dancing later!
We then headed off to Deer Creek, as Amanda and Blair had decided to see each other before the ceremony. I LOVE when couples do this. It makes the day so much easier not only for themselves (and their nerves), but also for their guests and the photos. I often recommend that couples with a tight timeline should consider this option and have a private moment ahead of the ceremony to see each other away from the crowd. Brides have actually thanked me after for suggesting it since they were hestitant at being “un-traditional” for their wedding day.
We started with some photos of the wedding party and that’s when the drops of rain started, ever so slightly. We threw a jacket over Amanda’s hair and ran back to the entrance. When we got there, it had stopped so we continued wth the photos around the grounds. Thankfully the rain held off through the ceremony and family photos! Once we were settled inside for the reception, the first speaker came up to the microphone and the skies opened up! We had rain, hail, dangerously high winds…you couldn’t even see through the windows in our hall the rain was so heavy!
It was definitely a lucky, beautiful day for Amanda and Blair and we had such a blast hanging out with them! Enjoy the photos and comments always welcome!
